A 71-year-old man who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease went missing Wednesday in Compton, prompting a Silver Alert.

Armando Ojeda was last seen about 8:30 a.m. near his home in the 2100 block of North Santa Fe Avenue, near Euclid Avenue, according to Deputy Eric Ortiz of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. He was wearing a gray Nike hat, a navy polo shirt with white horizontal stripes and blue jeans.

Ojeda is described as Hispanic, 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 180 pounds, with brown eyes, black hair and a “Pauline” tattoo on his chest.

Authorities issued a Silver Alert in Los Angeles County and urged anyone with information about his whereabouts to call the sheriff’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500. Those wishing to report anonymously can call 800-222-TIPS.

The Silver Alert program was established to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearance of elderly, developmentally disabled and cognitively impaired individuals.
