Firefighters Sunday put out an exterior fire next to a four-story apartment building under construction in South Los Angeles.

“The fire was contained to the exterior and prevented from extending into the main structure,” said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. “An additional outside fire extended into a converted, detached garage, which firefighters quickly extinguished.”

Firefighters dispatched at 12:51 p.m. to 100 E. 79th St. had the fire out within 18 minutes of their arrival, Stewart said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
