A garage fire in South Los Angeles was extinguished Sunday evening by firefighters.
Originally reported as a house fire, the blaze turned out to be in a detached garage at 1730 W. 51st Place in Vermont Square, and was reported at 8:32 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange.
The fire threatened nearby structures, but firefighters kept the damage to only one garage, Prange said.
The department sent 30 firefighters to the scene and knocked down the flames in under 15 minutes, he said.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
