A driver was killed Thursday morning in a crash on the southbound Golden State (5) Freeway in Burbank.

At 1:05 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to a solo-vehicle crash into the center divider close to a construction zone near Hollywood Way, the CHP reported.

The motorist was later identified as Eric Armstead, 44, of Los Angeles, according to the coroner’s office.

Firefighters and paramedics dispatched to the scene at 1:06 a.m. transported no one to any area hospital, according to Verdugo Fire dispatcher.

A representative from the coroner’s office was called out to the location at 2:11 a.m.
