A stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard was closed until late Tuesday afternoon to allow Southern California Edison repair crews to fix downed power lines caused by a vehicle crash that sparked a two-acre brush fire in Topanga.

The blaze was reported about 9:15 p.m. Monday near Topanga Canyon Boulevard and Fernwood Pacific Drive. An Audi sedan crashed into a power pole, downing wires that sparked the fire that spread into nearby brush, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

At about 10 p.m., the fire department reported progress of the non-injury fire had been stopped and crews would remain on scene to mop-up any hot spots.

The downed power lines prompted the closure of Topanga Canyon Boulevard in both directions at Pacific Coast Highway until shortly before 5 p.m., when crews finished repairs, Caltrans reported.
