Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of a fire that began in the kitchen of a Winnetka home, spread into the living room and killed eight of least 12 cats inside the residence, officials said Saturday.
The fire was reported at 4:06 a.m. Friday at 20453 W. Rodax St., said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey.
Flames were showing from the front door when firefighters arrived, Humphrey said.
The fire appeared to have originated in the kitchen of the 1,300-square-feet, single-story home and it spread into the living room, he said.
The flames were out at 4:23 a.m., Humphrey said. No human injuries were reported. One person was temporarily displaced as a result of the fire.
The cause of the fire and damage estimates remained under investigation.
