At least four people — including two children and critically injured woman — were rushed to area hospitals Saturday when a vehicle left the Harbor(110) Freeway in the Vermont Vista community of Los Angeles and crashed into at least four other vehicles on surface streets.
Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 12:28 p.m. to the Harbor (110) Freeway at the Century (105) Freeway amid reports of at least one person being ejected from the vehicle that drove off the freeway, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The ejected vehicle impacted four vehicles on the surface streets, Stewart said.
Paramedics rushed a woman, a man and two children to area hospitals, she said, adding that “due to the mechanism of injury, the adult female patient is categorized as critical. The remaining patients do not appear to have life-threatening injuries, but are all considered trauma patients.”
Stewart said Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics handled an additional patient up at the freeway level.
A Sigalert was issued at 12:53 p.m. shutting down four lanes of the eastbound Century (105) Freeway for approximately one hour, the California Highway Patrol reported.
