A 23-year-old man was struck and killed Saturday on the Harbor (110) Freeway in downtown Los Angeles by a vehicle whose driver who suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital.
The crash occurred at about 1:55 a.m. on the northbound freeway, south of the Santa Monica (10) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Paramedics dispatched to the scene reported that the pedestrian was lying within the center median of the northbound freeway, where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the location and parked his 2020 Toyota, temporarily blocking the number one lane of traffic.
Paramedics rushed the driver, suffering from minor injuries, to an area hospital.
The name of the pedestrian, who was a resident of Long Beach, will be released pending notification of next of kin, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The CHP’s Central Los Angeles office urged anyone with information regarding the crash to call them at 213-744-2331.
