Firefighters rescued a 30-year-old woman Sunday who was temporarily trapped in her vehicle after a multi-vehicle crash sent her car over the side of the road off the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Sherman Oaks.

The crash on the 405 freeway happened in the Sepulveda Basin about 2:25 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

Only one injury was reported in the crash, Stewart said.

The crash was being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
