Fire damaged an abandoned building in Vernon Thursday morning.
The fire in a two-story building was reported in the 5600 block of South Alcoa Avenue, north of Slauson Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. It was unclear what time the blaze started.
A total of 40 firefighters were able to contain the flames and keep the fire from spreading to several nearby buildings, the department reported about 3:30 a.m.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
