A rubbish fire beneath a Santa Monica (10) Freeway overcrossing in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles Monday left a man with possible smoke inhalation and prompted authorities to close one eastbound lane as a precaution.
Firefighters sent to the 2400 block of La Cienega Boulevard about 6:35 a.m. quickly extinguished the flames, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
The man, in his 40s, was taken to a hospital in fair condition, the LAFD reported.
Some firefighters remained on scene dousing hot spots. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
