A man who died in an apartment fire in Hancock Park was identified Wednesday, as authorities continued their investigation into the cause of the blaze.
Firefighters sent to the 500 block of North Sycamore Avenue about 4:10 p.m. Monday extinguished the flames in 16 minutes, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Paramedics treated William Kener for “severe smoke inhalation,” according to the LAFD.
Kener, 65, died at a hospital, according to the coroner’s office, which listed his cause of death as “deferred pending additional investigation.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, Stewart said.
