A man authorities said walked out of a house holding a shotgun was shot Friday in an unincorporated area near La Mirada by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies.
The shooting occurred at about 6:30 p.m. in 15800 block of Creswick Drive, near Santa Gertrudes Avenue and La Mirada city limit, after deputies responded to a call of a person who wanted to commit suicide and was armed with a knife, according to Deputy Eric Ortiz of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
When deputies arrived at the location, they called for the person to come outside and he walked out of a home holding a shotgun, at which time the shooting occurred, Deputy Gisel Del Real said.
The man, whose name was not released, sustained a gunshot wound to the upper body and was taken to a hospital with stable vital signs, Del Real said.
No deputies were injured in the shooting.
