Firefighters extinguished a fire Sunday in the Port of Long Beach that started in some trees, spread to a nearby building and burned a boat.

The blaze at 1521 Pier C St. was reported around 6:30 p.m., Long Beach fire Capt. Jack Crabtree said.

The department sent over 40 firefighters to the scene, Crabtree said.

The flames were finally extinguished about a half-hour later, he said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remained under investigation, he said.
