Five people were taken to a hospital Monday afternoon after apparently being exposed to some type of chemical in Pico Rivera.
Firefighters and paramedics were sent to the 8000 block of Kellam Lane shortly before 1 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“A total of five adults have been transported from the scene suffering from minor complaints,” the fire department reported about 2:30 p.m. via Twitter. “There are no evacuations of surrounding homes. Instead, we request residents in the immediate area stay inside and remain clear of the incident.”
A hazardous materials unit was working to determine the nature of the chemical.
