Firefighters waged a 72-minute defensive battle Saturday afternoon to put out flames that engulfed an automotive shop in Pacoima compromising the building’s corrugated roof and burning vehicles.
The fire was reported at 3:37 p.m. in the single-story, 4,000-square-foot building at 9833 N. San Fernando Road, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey. Flames were out at 4:49 p.m.
The cinder-block building was well-involved in flames when firefighters arrived, Humphrey said.
“Multiple vehicles on the property were also damaged by flames,” he said. “Firefighters successfully prevented a nearby structure from harm.”
No injuries were reported and the cause was under investigation, Humphrey said.
There were 87 firefighters on the scene, he said.
