A search was underway Thursday evening for a 24-year-old man who fell or jumped overboard the Catalina Express after the boat left Long Beach.
The incident occurred about 6 p.m., according to the U.S Coast Guard, which was searching for the man along with the Los Angeles County Fire and Sheriff’s departments and the Long Beach Fire Department.
“Deckhands actually saw some of it, so when they saw him hit the water, they threw a life ring over and … we are looking for him,” Greg Bombard, president of Catalina Express, told CBS2.
Authorities were expected to search for the man throughout the night and early morning hours.
