Angeles National Forest firefighters, with an assist from L.A. County fire, quickly knocked down a small brush fire that burned about a quarter-acre of grass in Castaic.

The brush fire near the Golden State (5) Freeway, just north of Templin Highway, was reported at 4:18 p.m., said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Cheryl Sims.

A knockdown was called at 4:41 p.m., Sims said.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert at 4:46 p.m. because fire department equipment was blocking the number 3 and 4 lanes.
