Fire damaged a commercial building housing an automotive body shop in Compton Friday.

The fire was reported about 6:30 a.m. at Compton Boulevard and Pearl Avenue, according to the Compton Fire Department.

The flames burned through the roof of the single-story building. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
