A brushfire burned half an acre in a Santa Clarita riverbed but firefighters quickly stopped it from growing.
The fire was reported about 8:15 p.m. in the 24000 block of Kirsch Court, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The flames did not threaten structures and no injuries were reported, fire officials said.
By about 8:30 p.m., officials reported firefighters had cleared vegetation around 80% of the fire, and its forward progress was halted.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
