At least one person was killed Sunday morning in a crash on the Escondido (15) Freeway in Fallbrook.
The crash was reported at 1:20 a.m. on the southbound Escondido Freeway near Mission Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness reported a vehicle hit a barrier, the CHP said. It was later reported the vehicle hit a bridge railing.
All southbound lanes were shut down at 1:50 a.m. so that an air ambulance could land and an investigation could be conducted.
The CHP did not confirm whether the person or persons were pronounced dead at a hospital but the medical examiner was not summoned to the scene.
The roadway was reopened about 2:50 a.m.
