A 61-year-old man was shot and killed Friday in the unincorporated Willowbrook area near Compton.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies and fire department paramedics responded at about 2:30 p.m. to the 600 block of East 136th Street, near Avalon Boulevard, on reports of a traffic collision and found the man suffering from gunshot wounds and lying unresponsive in the street, according to Deputy Alejandra Parra.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released.
The shooting did not appear to be gang-related, Parra said.
No weapon was retrieved and no suspect description was provided.
