Firefighters battled a Santa Clarita-area brush fire Saturday, which they expect to hold to five acres.
The fire was reported at 4:06 p.m. as an acre in medium fuels on the northbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway north of Agua Dulce Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses told the CHP the fire started along the right shoulder.
Two Super Scoopers and fixed-wing aircraft were launched but canceled after a drone assessed the situation. Water-dropping helicopters remained at work, according to county fire officials.
The CHP issued a SigAlert for lanes 3 and 4 of the northbound Antelope Valley Freeway south of Agua Dulce Canyon Road.
