A house fire in the Florence-Graham neighborhood near South Los Angeles left three people dead and two hospitalized in critical condition, authorities said Tuesday.
Firefighters sent to the 8700 block of Compton Avenue at about 11:45 p.m. Monday extinguished the flames and found one person dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Four other people were taken to a hospital, the fire department reported.
Two of those people later died, and the other two were hospitalized in critical condition, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Information was not immediately available on the identities of the fatally injured victims.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
