Two motorcyclists were killed Sunday in two, unrelated crashes in Los Angeles County occurring within minutes of each other, authorities said.
A motorcyclist in Granada Hills was killed in a crash reported at 5:24 a.m. involving a vehicle on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway, north of the Foothill (210) Freeway, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The 42-year-old victim, riding a 2000 Honda CBR 600, was going northbound in the No. 1 lane and struck a pickup truck while changing lanes, the CHP said. He was ejected from the Honda and into traffic lanes, where the Stevenson Ranch resident was struck by passing vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP’s Newhall area office urged anyone with information regarding the Granada Hills crash to call them at 661-600-1600.
The second deadly crash, which also involved another vehicle, occurred at 5:31 a.m. on the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway at Via Verde in San Dimas.
