A man who died after he was ejected from the vehicle he was driving in during a traffic mishap in the Antelope Valley was identified by county authorities Thursday.
Juan Carranza Espinoza, 35, died when the SUV he was driving crashed into a dirt mound, causing the vehicle to roll over, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office reported Thursday.
Espinoza died of blunt force traumatic injuries and the coroner’s office classified his death as an accident.
The crash occurred about 8 p.m. Friday on Avenue W, east of 175th Street East, according to California Highway Patrol Officer R. Novack.
The CHP said Espinoza was driving westbound on Avenue W in a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe when he “lost control of his vehicle and veered to the right onto the dirt shoulder where (the SUV) impacted a dirt berm and began overturning,” Novack said. “During the overturn sequence, (the male) was ejected from within the vehicle, which resulted in fatal injuries.”
According to Novack, Espinoza was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
