“The Harder They Fall” topped the latest streaming ratings with viewers spending 1.195 billion minutes watching the revisionist Western with a primarily Black cast in the first five days it was available on Netflix, according to figures released Thursday by Nielsen.
“You” dropped to second after back-to-back first-place finishes, with viewers spending 994 million minutes watching the 30 episodes of the psychological thriller the week of Nov. 1-7.
Viewership dropped 35.9% from the 1.551 billion minutes watched from Oct. 25-31 and 62.9% from the 2.682 billion minutes watched the week of Oct. 18-24, the first full week its 10-episode third season was available on Netflix.
“NCIS” was the only other program in the latest top 10 not in the previous week with the CBS action drama that streams on Netflix returning to the top 10 after a one-week absence, placing 10th with 519 million minutes watched of the 353 episodes available.
The NBC crime thriller “The Blacklist” and The CW police procedural crime drama “In The Dark” dropped out of the top 10 after finishing ninth and 10th the previous week. Both programs stream on Netflix.
For the fourth consecutive week, all of the top 10 programs stream on Netflix. Nielsen also announces streaming viewership of Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+ and Hulu programming.
The top 10 consisted of four programs that originally aired on U.S. broadcast or cable networks; three original streaming series; one movie; “You,” whose first 10 episodes aired on Lifetime and next 20 streamed on Netflix; and “CoComelon,” the 15-episode 3D animated series of videos of traditional nursery rhymes and original children’s songs that originated on YouTube.
The top 10 programs were “The Harder They Fall”; “You”; “CoComelon”; “Squid Game”; “Seinfeld”; “Locke & Key”; “Criminal Minds”; “Shameless”; “Maid”; and “NCIS.”
The figures reflect only television-set-related viewing, including such television-connected devices as Roku and Apple TV. Mobile-only viewing is not included in Nielsen’s streaming measurement systems.
