A fire damaged an apartment building in the Westlake area Thursday, but no one was hurt.
The fire was reported in a four-story building in the 200 block of South Loma Drive at about 9:30 a.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
“Firefighters located fire in one unit on the top floor … where it appeared (the) fire originated from a malfunctioning A/C unit, producing an abundance of smoke,” Nicholas Prange of the LAFD said in a statement.
“It took 42 firefighters just 16 minutes to access, confine and extinguish the fire, which only partially damaged one unit,” Prange said.
