A 68-year-old Los Angeles woman was killed and seven other people were injured in a crash involving nine vehicles — including two big rigs — on the Golden State (5) Freeway near Dodger Stadium, in Elysian Park, authorities said Saturday.

The crash was reported just after 8 a.m. Friday on the southbound Golden State Freeway north of the Arroyo Seco Parkway (110), according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman who was killed was driving a 2002 Toyota coupe when she lost control and caused the chain-reaction crash, the CHP said. Her name was not released pending notification of relatives.

A 67-year-old woman, a 29-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl were taken by paramedics to a hospital. Their conditions were unknown, said Nicholas Prange of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Four other people injured in the crash declined transport, said Prange, adding that “one patient who was transported required extrication by firefighters with hydraulic rescue tools.”
