A Redondo Beach man was identified Tuesday as the person killed when the motorcycle he was riding rear-ended a vehicle on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Hawthorne.
Jeffery Lanie was 42 years old, according to the coroner’s office. It was unclear if he was driving or a passenger on the bike.
The fatal accident occurred a little before 11 a.m. Sunday on the northbound freeway, west of El Segundo Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Paramedics rushed a second patient to a hospital, said CHP Officer Peter Nicholson. That person’s condition was not available.
