The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Tuesday for the 12th consecutive day, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.937, its highest amount since April 21.
The average price has risen 10.9 cents over the past 12 days, including nine-tenths of a cent Monday, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service. The streak of increases follows a run of six decreases in seven days totaling 2.4 cents.
The average price is 6.8 cents more than one week ago and 3.3 cents higher than one month ago but $1.225 lower than one year ago. It has dropped $1.557 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5.
The Orange County average price rose for the 11th time in 12 days, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.906, its highest amount since April 20. It has risen 11.7 cents over the past 12 days, including two-tenths of a cent Monday.
The Orange County average price increased three consecutive days, including 2.6 cents May 19, dropped one-tenth of a cent May 22, then resumed increasing last Tuesday. It is 8 cents more than one week ago and 4.7 cents higher than one month ago but $1.237 less than one year ago and has dropped $1.553 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5.
The increases are expected to continue because of refinery issues, according to Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
The national average price dropped three-tenths of a cent to $3.579 after rising 3.9 cents over the previous six days, including four-tenths of a cent Monday. It is 3.6 cents more than one week ago but 3.2 cents less than one month ago and $1.04 lower than one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.437 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14.
