A brush fire in Studio City fanned by light winds was contained Monday evening after burning approximately one-quarter acre of vegetation.
It took 30 firefighters 45 minutes to extinguish the flames, with the crew battling flames on the ground and with the assistance of four helicopters dropping water on affected areas, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The brush fire was reported at around 7:16 p.m. in the 7700 block of Mulholland Drive. Humphrey said the fire did not threaten any structure. Winds were reported out of the southwest at 7 mph, Humphrey said.
No residential evacuation was requested and there were no reports of injuries.
Several witnesses claimed illegal fireworks sparked the fire, but Humphrey said the cause remains under investigation.
