A man died Sunday morning in a multiple- vehicle crash on the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway in Pacoima.
He was identified by the medical examiner’s office as 35-year-old Robert Castellanos. His city of residence was not immediately available.
The crash occurred at 2:48 a.m. on the eastbound 118 Freeway at the Golden State (5) Freeway, California Highway Patrol Officer Elizabeth Kravig said.
Castellanos was pronounced dead at the scene, Kravig said. Firefighters used hydraulic tools to free the man before he was pronounced dead.
The CHP issued a Sigalert at 3:27 a.m. shutting down all eastbound lanes of the 118 at the 5 Freeway. It was lifted later Sunday morning.
