A balcony fire on the second floor of a 12-story residential structure was extinguished Friday, with brief evacuation orders in place for some residents.
Fire crews responded to the 500 block of South San Pedro Street around 2:55 p.m. regarding visible smoke on the second floor of an “E-shaped pre-1960 building,” according to spokeswoman Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The second-floor balcony fire was quickly knocked down.
According to Stewart, occupants on the second floor were evacuated with no reported injuries as fire crews worked to clear light smoke from the hallway.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
