The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Friday to its highest amount since Dec. 6, increasing 1.4 cents to $4.864.
The average price has risen seven consecutive days, 7.1 cents, including 2.6 cents on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The increases follow a run of four decreases in six days totaling 1.8 cents.
The average price is 20.7 cents more than one month ago and eight-tenths of a cent higher than one year ago. It has dropped $1.63 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price rose to its highest amount since Nov. 28, increasing three-tenths of a cent to $4.825. It has risen five times in six days, increasing 8.3 cents following a run of six decreases in eight days totaling 2.5 cents.
The Orange County average price is 7.9 cents more than one week ago and 21.1 cents higher than one month ago but unchanged from one year ago. It has dropped $1.634 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
“According to Oil Price Information Service, the latest Energy Information Administration data is showing increased refinery production on the West Coast while gasoline inventories declined,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
“Gas prices are likely to increase further in the next few months as consumer fuel demand grows in the spring and summer months.”
The national average price rose 1.2 cents to $3.331, the fifth consecutive increase following a run of eight decreases in nine days totaling 2.2 cents. It has risen 6.9 cents over the past five days, including 2.5 cents on Thursday.
The national average price is 6.4 cents more than one week ago and 18.1 cents higher than one month ago but 2.8 cents less than one year ago. It has dropped $1.685 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
