One person was killed in a single-vehicle collision after the driver struck a tree in Stevenson Ranch, authorities said Friday.
California Highway Patrol officers were called at 12:41 a.m. to Constitution Avenue and The Old Road where they learned the driver and a passenger slammed into the tree, trapping the driver inside the vehicle, CHP Officer Erik Larsen told City News Service.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were called to the scene to free the driver, who was pronounced dead.
The passenger was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
