The Imperial Irrigation District will host a strategic workshop on California’s electrification mandates Thursday in La Quinta.

The workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in the IID Boardroom, 81-600 Avenue 58, according to district officials. Representatives of public agencies, municipalities, counties, school districts, tribes and members of the public were encouraged to attend.

“IID is coordinating with local agencies to ensure a seamless transition to an electrified future,” general manager Jamie Asbury said in a statement. “We aim to highlight the importance of advanced planning and robust communication as we tackle these significant changes together.”

The workshop will feature discussions on various topics including California’s climate and clean energy goals, the enhancement of energy efficiency, the customer project process, and the development of electric vehicle infrastructure, according to IID officials.

The IID provides electricity to more than 150,000 customers in parts of Riverside and San Diego counties, and all of Imperial County.
