A 43-year-old man died in a crash involving an off-road vehicle near Santa Clarita that also injured three people, authorities said Saturday.

Jesus Castorena was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Medical Examiner’s office.

California Highway Patrol officers were called at 10:22 p.m. Thursday to Rowher Canyon Road and Sierra Highway, where they found the vehicle in a dark area down the embankment, CHP Officer A. De Los Reyes told City News Service.

Three injured people were found inside the vehicle, their conditions were not available.

Search-and-rescue teams were called to bring the vehicle and the victim up from the embankment.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
