Overnight closures at Topanga Canyon Boulevard are scheduled for next week due to a massive landslide that occurred in March, officials said Wednesday.
The landslide was triggered by a series of storms that dropped an unprecedented amount of rain on hillsides throughout Los Angeles and Ventura counties, according to Caltrans.
The closures are expected to begin on Nov. 2, with construction crews planting seed and mulch at postmile 1.8 at state Route 27, where the landslide took place.
The northbound lane closure will take place from 9 p.m. on Nov. 2 to 10 a.m. on Nov. 3, with the southbound lane expected to remain open.
Construction was scheduled on Monday, but was pushed back for work-related issues. The process is expected to be quick, Caltrans said in a statement.
The planting and seeding process, or “hydroseeding,” will extend about one-quarter mile in each direction of the hillsides on SR-27.
The section of SR-27 at postmile 1.8 is used by more than 14,000 vehicles a day on average, Caltrans said.
The closures are subject to change and may start and end later than expected.
