The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Friday to its lowest amount since Oct. 5, 2021, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.422.
The average price has dropped five of the past six days, decreasing 3 cents, including four-tenths of a cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six-tenths of a cent Sunday, was unchanged Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.
The average price is 2.4 cents less than one week ago, 9.1 cents lower than one month ago and 44.8 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $2.072 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped to its lowest amount since Dec. 24, 2022, decreasing six-tenths of a cent to $4.338. It has also dropped five of the past six days, decreasing 3.4 cents, including eight-tenths of a cent Thursday.
The Orange County average price dropped a half-cent Sunday, rose four-tenths of a cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday. It is 3.1 cents less than one week ago, 6.8 cents lower than one month ago and 36 cents below what it was one year ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped $2.121 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
While “it’s hard to say how much lower they will drop” Southern California “gas prices often decrease during” December, said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.
The national average price decreased for the ninth consecutive day, dropping six-tenths of a cent to $3.026. It has decreased 4.7 cents over the past nine days, including one-tenth of a cent Thursday, after back-to-back increases totaling 1.7 cents.
The national average price is 3.7 cents less than one week ago, 8.1 cents lower than one month ago and 19 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.99 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
