Authorities Monday were clarifying a video posted Monday that shows a man with something in his hand running toward a California Highway Patrol vehicle during a street takeover in Compton, with gunshot sounds being heard.
CHP officials later stated the video was deceptive and man was only running with a cell phone in his hand.
The street takeover took place early Monday morning at the intersection of Rosecrans and Atlantic avenues, KTLA5 reported, citing the CHP is reporting that the driver of the CHP vehicle, a sergeant, was not shot at.
Shots are heard on the video as the CHP driver quickly drives away, which later was clarified as gunshots heard from a distance. The sergeant was unharmed and said he sped away to avoid escalating the situation, according to the report.
