A motorist was killed when his pickup truck struck a tree in Quartz Hill, authorities said Thursday.
The crash occurred about 7:50 p.m. Wednesday on 50th Street north of Avenue M-8, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The 37-year-old Palmdale resident was northbound on 50th Street West when his 1997 Chevrolet Silverado left the roadway north of Avenue M-8 and struck a tree. His name was withheld.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and it was unknown whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
