The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped eight-tenths of a cent Friday to $4.757, decreasing for the fourth consecutive day.

The average price has dropped 2.7 cents over the past four days, including seven-tenths of a cent Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It is 2.5 cents less than one week ago and 6.7 cents lower than one year ago but 26.1 cents more than one month ago.

The average price has dropped $1.737 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price dropped for the eighth time in nine days following a 23-day streak of increases totaling 32.3 cents that boosted it to its highest amount since June 11, decreasing 1.1 cents to $4.719.

The Orange County average price has dropped 3.9 cents over the past nine days, including eight-tenths of a cent Thursday. It dropped three consecutive days, was unchanged Sunday and resumed decreasing Monday.

The Orange County average price is 3.7 cents less than one week ago and 7.6 cents lower than one year ago but 28.2 cents more than one month ago. It has dropped $1.74 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

“Oil Price Information Service reports that Energy Information Administration and California Energy Commission data shows the state’s inventories and imports of gasoline have increased in the past week,” said Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager.

“OPIS also reported that the HF Sinclair refinery in Anacortes, (Washington) has announced it will begin refining California-blend gasoline as early as next month.”

The national average price dropped for the eighth consecutive day, decreasing 1.1 cents to $3.114. It has dropped 5.1 cents over the past eight days, including nine-tenths of a cent Thursday.

The national average price is 4.8 cents less than one week ago, six-tenths of a cent lower than one month ago and 18 cents below what it was one year ago. It has dropped $1.902 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
