The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County recorded its largest decrease since Dec. 7 Tuesday, dropping 1 cent to $4.742.
The average price has dropped seven of the past eight days, decreasing 4.2 cents, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It dropped six consecutive days, rose four-tenths of a cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.
The average price is 3.6 cents less than one week ago and 16.1 cents lower than one year ago but 19.7 cents more the month ago. It has dropped $1.752 since rising to a record $6.494 on Oct. 5, 2022.
The Orange County average price dropped for the eighth time in nine days, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.708. It decreased seven consecutive days, rose four-tenths of a cent Monday and resumed decreasing Tuesday.
The Orange County average price has dropped 4.2 cents over the past nine days. It is 3.6 cents less than one week ago and 16.6 cents lower than one year ago but 20.4 cents more than one month ago.
The Orange County average price has dropped $1.751 since rising to a record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.
An 11-day streak of decreases to the national average price totaling 6.8 cents ended with an increase of two-tenths to $3.099. It is 4.1 cents less than one week ago, eight-tenths of a cent lower than a month ago and 25.3 cents below what it was one year ago.
The national average price has dropped $1.917 since rising to a record $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
“While OPEC has signaled its intent to stabilize the market, policy decisions from the White House could introduce further uncertainty, making it difficult to predict where prices will head next,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations.
“However, nearly every year sees a seasonal spring increase, which could eventually push prices higher ahead of summer.”
