Two people were killed and three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash allegedly triggered by a wrong-way driver on the Pomona (60) Freeway, authorities said Sunday.

The crash occurred at about 11 p.m. Saturday on the westbound freeway near Reservoir Street in Pomona, where the motorist was allegedly going east in the westbound lanes of traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Two women were pronounced dead at the scene.

Paramedics dispatched to the location at 11:04 p.m. rushed three people to a hospital, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department public information officer. Their conditions were not immediately clear.

The roadway was cleared at 4:02 a.m. Sunday, the CHP said.
