Authorities sought the public’s assistance Tuesday in locating a 72-year-old man last seen in South Gate, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert.

Nelson Castro Jimenez was last seen Monday near Boman and Southern avenues around 11:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Jimenez was described as a 5-foot-7-inch tall man weighing 130 pounds with white hair and brown eyes. He was seen wearing a dark gray shirt, gray sweatpants and a blue hat.

Anyone with information regarding Jimenez’s whereabouts was urged to call 911.

The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
