A 72-year-old man who had last been seen in South Gate, prompting the issuance of a Silver Alert, has been located, authorities announced Tuesday.

Nelson Castro Jimenez had last been seen Monday near Boman and Southern avenues around 11:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

He has since been located, but as is typical with missing persons cases, there were no additional details provided about when or where he was found.

The Silver Alert program was established by the CHP to issue and coordinate alerts involving the unexplained or suspicious disappearances of elderly, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired individuals.
