At least one person was killed in a two-vehicle collision Monday evening on the Long Beach (710) Freeway in Long Beach.

California Highway Patrol officers responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday to the freeway and the Gerald Desmond Bridge, where they found the vehicles had collided, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The victim’s name, age and gender were not immediately known.

The CHP issued a Sigalert after the collision, closing the freeway’s southbound lanes near the bridge for two hours while they investigated the cause of the collision.
