A 23-year-old man killed in a two-vehicle collision on the Long Beach (710) Freeway in Long Beach was identified Friday.
California Highway Patrol officers responded at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday to the freeway near the Long Beach International Gateway Bridge, where they found the vehicles had collided, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City News Service.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The victim was identified Friday by the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner as Christopher Gonzalez.
The CHP issued a Sigalert after the collision, closing the freeway’s southbound lanes near the bridge for two hours to allow for an investigation of the cause of the collision.
There was no immediate information available about the circumstances of the crash.
