A man who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash when he was struck by a big rig on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Claremont was publicly identified Sunday.

Faridun Abduvakhobov, 41, died from multiple blunt traumatic injuries in an accident on the freeway, the Medical Examiner’s office said. His city of residence was not disclosed.

The crash occurred at 5:10 a.m. Saturday on the eastbound freeway just west of South Indian Hill Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A preliminary investigation determined Abduvakhobov was a passenger in a gray Toyota Camry that was involved in a collision and blocking the No. 3 eastbound lane, the CHP reported.

He got out of the car with the driver before a blue big rig in the No. 3 lane crashed into the car and its trailer hit the man, according to the CHP. The man was thrown to the right road shoulder where he died.

All lanes of the eastbound freeway at South Indian Hill were shut down for four hours for the crash investigation.
